Published P-code guides

How to read a P-code
A P-code has five characters: one letter followed by four digits. Read the characters from left to right to understand what the code is pointing you toward.
1st character — P
P identifies powertrain, the powertrain category.
2nd character — code range
The second character distinguishes generic codes (0) from manufacturer-specific ranges (1–2).
3rd character — system or area
The third character narrows the vehicle system or area being monitored.
4th character — fault detail
The fourth and fifth characters provide the specific fault detail; this character supplies part of that detail.
5th character — fault detail
The fourth and fifth characters provide the specific fault detail; this character completes that detail.
Diagnostic scope: A P-code identifies a monitored system or condition and narrows diagnostic investigation. It does not by itself prove that a named component failed, establish the root cause, or identify the part to replace.
