How to Check OBD-II Status After a Repair
After a repair, record stored, pending, permanent, and confirmed code status, the MIL state, freeze-frame data, readiness state, and symptoms before clearing anything.
Clearing can erase diagnostic history and freeze-frame data, reset readiness monitors, and does not repair the underlying fault. Permanent DTCs cannot be manually erased by a scan tool or battery disconnect. Readiness is not a diagnosis, safety verdict, repair confirmation, or guaranteed inspection result.
