How to Read Generic OBD-II Live Data Without Guessing
Generic OBD-II live data shows what the vehicle is reporting while a scan tool is connected. Read engine coolant temperature, fuel trim, oxygen or air-fuel sensor output, MAF, MAP, engine load, RPM, throttle position, and fuel-system state with matched vehicle and operating context—not universal thresholds.
Live data is current evidence, while freeze-frame is historical fault context and pending or stored codes describe monitoring status. An isolated anomaly is not proof of a failed part, safety, or a guaranteed repair. Preserve the record before clearing codes and use vehicle-specific service information or professional testing when generic coverage cannot support a conclusion.
