Can I Drive With the Check-Engine Light On?
A flashing light may indicate an active engine misfire. Reduce speed and load, pull over safely, shut the engine off when safe, and arrange professional help or a tow if the warning or symptoms make driving unsafe. A steady light may allow a short, gentle trip to diagnosis only when the vehicle is otherwise operating normally.
The lamp alone is not a diagnosis. Consult the vehicle-specific owner manual and a professional for the exact cause.
